So Thankful!!

I am just so sadden by all of the destruction that I'm seeing on the TV because of the tornadoes yesterday.  We were in the risk for really bad tornadoes, but thankfully we did not experience any.  We did have a tornado warning early in the morning (6:40) that we did go to our safe room for.  But, thankfully we really didn't even experience extremely high winds.  I just feel so fortunate.  The rest of the day was full of severe storms, but nothing compared to what some of the people experienced.  I have thanked God so many times today for the safety through yesterday.  And, I continue to pray for all of the people dealing with losses...family members or homes.  We just can't take anything for granted.

In Whoville

Definition:  Whoville=place where Aaron worked today

So, today Blake and I had to make a trip to Sam's to get a lot of stuff.  Boy was I about out of everything.  With the stormy weather the past 2 days I have not ventured out at all.  So, it was looking pretty sad around here.  On our way home we drove by Aaron's office.  Blake knows exactly where Aaron's work is and talks about it as we drive by.  Today was no different.  As soon as we turned the corner by the office he started talking about "my Daddy."  It went something like this.

Blake:  My daddy's office.  He is there.
Me:  No, I think he is in Whoville.  We'll see if his car is there.  (15 seconds later)...  No, his car is not there.
Blake:  That's because he drove it to Whoville.  He is in Whoville.

I have to remind myself a lot that he just turned 2 1/2  a week ago but talks like a 4 year old.

More Eggs and Play Dough

Last Thursday, the entire kindergarten was suppose to go to a local assisted living facility to do an egg hunt with the residents.  But, it rained (of course).  So, they rescheduled it for this past Tuesday.  Yep, you guessed it!  It rained yet again.  So, they gave up on the assisted living facility and just did the egg hunt at school today.  Each student took an egg for each student and put their name on it.  So, the kids just had to look around for their own egg.  It took quite a long time.

Blake had fun throwing dead leaves.  One little girl informed him he was ruining their egg hunt.  Not sure how because there were no eggs around and he never bothered any of the kids.  He was in his own little world...as usual.
Aaron has gone to his parents this weekend to help them clean up from the storms this week.  So, we've just been hanging out at home.  The boys decided to play with play dough.  Connor does not like to be downstairs by himself, so I had to find something to do downstairs so they could play with play dough.  So, what exciting thing did I fill my evening with????  You will be jealous!!!  I cleaned the bathroom downstairs.  Yep, cleaning the toilet, shower and sink filled my exciting Friday night.  But, as you know, I don't mind to clean, so it wasn't that bad.  Here are some of the kids' creations.

Can't remember what Blake told me this was...

Connor's upside down mushroom...
Blake's baseball...
Connor's snake...curled up...
and now uncurled...

A New Chapter

I've been thinking a lot here lately about making up my mind and just potty training Blake.  I know a lot of getting him trained just has to do with me being ready to just do it!  It was that way with Connor.  Once I made up my mind that no more diapers were going on him, it was a piece of cake!  I regretted not doing it 9 months earlier, especially since he would eagerly sit on the potty and go whenever I would ask him.  He just wouldn't go on his own to the potty.

So, today as I started getting Blake ready, I had a diaper ready and then decided since I knew we weren't going anywhere today we would just give this the best shot ever.  And, boy am I glad I did.  It is now almost 9:00 and we haven't even gotten close to an accident.  The first half of the day he went naked.  I put a towel down on the couch for when he sat down.  It went so smoothly!  Then after naptime he decided he wanted to wear his underwear.  I was afraid it was because he wanted to do #2.  So, I kept a close eye on him and he's done great!  He did tell me one time he was going to Connor's room to play which translates into "I'm going to poop."  So, I told him we were going to do that only in the potty now.  So we went there and tried but weren't successful.  But, he'll get it.  I'm not worried or concerned at all.  I'm even going to try no pull-ups except at night for the first couple of nights.  Connor did so much better when we didn't use pull-ups.  That's just a crutch for them to get lazy.  So, we'll see how tonight goes.  I'm going to try to get up in the middle of the night to take him so that maybe even the pull-up will be dry in the morning.  But, I've beem battling some serious allergies today and am planning on taking a night time medicine.  So, who knows if I'll wake up during the night.  But, I'm going to try.

Hopefully tomorrow will be just as successful as today.  We'll be at church, so that should be the test.

So, I had thought my first blog after taking a month or so off would be about our trip to the beach.  Well, that was the plan.  But, after being unsuccessful at getting the pictures to download, I gave up for a few days.  So, I'm going to blog on something else that I had planned on blogging about soon anyways.

It all started 8 months ago.  I had been struggling with some weight that I really wanted to get off, but working out 4 times a week wasn't getting the job done.  I was frustrated so say the least.  One of my friends had been talking about this nutritional supplement company that her best friend (who I knew from church when we first moved here) had joined as a representative and had had amazing physical results from the products as well as financial success.  So, I thought I'd give it a try in November.  Well, things happened and I never got around to it.  So, finally at the end of December I decided to go ahead and just do it this time.

So, Aaron, my friend Jill and I started using AdvoCare products.  They started off with the AdvoCare cleanse and I did the full 24 Day Challenge which was the same 10 day cleanse Aaron and Jill were doing plus 14 days of the metabolic nutrition system.  By the end of 24 days I was down several inches and 6 pounds.  Now, that is what I was talking about!!!  I had worked and worked to lose weight and nothing was happening and now the weight was finally coming off.

I continued the metabolic nutrition system (MNS) and now I'm down between 17 and 18 pounds and feel TERRIFIC!!!  So, the beginning of May I started really thinking and praying about whether I should just go for it and become an advisor with AdvoCare.  I met with my friend Casey one day for coffee (or frapaccino since this chic doesn't like coffee!) and she told me her and TJs AMAZING story with Advocare which included fully funding the adoption that they had just gone through and being able to give away her gym!  I left there wanting to just do it but was a little nervous all at the same time.  So, I came home and talked it over with Aaron.  He was so supportive.  It really only made since to do it.  So, the next Monday I placed my first order of AdvoCare products and started inviting people to my mixer.  It was such a huge success!!

So many people are looking for great nutrition products and AdvoCare has it.  We have some of the best, well-known doctors that are on our SciMed board that work together to produce the best products for the best results.  We have some very well-known non-paid endorsers that use the products and LOVE them.  It is nothing more than great nutrition and good eating habits.  No magic pill in a box.  Just great nutrition.  Once you get the great nutrition in your body that it needs, your body will respond.  And, I am living proof of that!

I am so anxious to see what the next 90 days have in store for me.  I want to build an amazing business and help people change their lives both physically and financially!!

Tater Tot Casserole

Tuesday night I made a Tater Tot Casserole.  You can click HERE to view the blog and the recipe.  I followed the recipe almost exactly ;)  I don't think I have really every followed a recipe exactly, BUT the only different was that I added more cheese.  Who don't like more cheese???  I used the one cup shredded cheddar, but I added a cup of Mozzarella cheese!
Stephen was really hungry while I was cooking and so he had a cheese stick and 2 bananas.  When it came time to eat the real supper he wasn't to hungry.Jackson LOVED it.  While he isn't to big of a fan on regular cooked potatoes he is a big fan of tater tots and hash browns.  This was right up his alley and ate the whole entire plate.  It even has onions in it.  shhhh don't tell him!!Bart liked it, but its not his favorite!  He will have to get over it at least 2 more times because I made 3 batches.  We ate one and I put 2 in the freezer!I LOVED it.

Tonight (Wednesday) we had:
Okra and Tomatoes

and

Garlic Chick Puffs

You can click on the picture and it should take you to the website where they came from.  I didn't really follow the Okra and Tomatoes recipe, but its a picture.  The recipe called for canned tomatoes, but why used canned when you have some fresh from the Garden.  I also used fresh from the garden Okra!  Jackson liked it till he I told him it had tomatoes in it.  Stephen spit it out and Bart, well he ate it, but I don't think he really liked it.  I liked it, but I'm weird like that!

The Garlic and Chicken Puffs recipe called for canned chicken.  I don't really do that kinda thing.  I just bought mine from Ingles for 1.98 a pound and ended up buying 1 1/2 pounds and just doubled the rest of the ingredients from the recipe.  Instead of cutting each crescent roll triangle in half I just used the whole crescent roll and filled it fuller and wrapped it up really good.  Stephen ate the whole thing.  Jackson ate 2 and gave it one thumbs up.  He probably would have given 2 thumbs up if he would have laid his crescent roll down from the other hand long enough to do it!  I asked him if it was good and he said mmmmmhhuh!!  Bart kept telling me that it was good and I have to admit it was pretty good.

It was something different.  I do have to admit that it would be a great appetizer or a great "shower" finger food!

Children TV shows

Jackson has always LOVED tv.  I guess his first tv show he fell in love with was the Wiggles.  It lasted about 2 years and we even went to see it Live for his 3rd birthday.  Stephen on the other hand has just here lately gotten interested in tv.  It first started with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and then Curious George.  The last few weeks he really likes anything on Disney.

When Jackson was younger he was aloud to watch PBS Kids and Boomerang.  He watched other shows and channels at his old baby sitter and his dads, but only PBS Kids and Boomerang at my house.  When he started Pre K he seriously begged and begged to watch Nick Jr.  I would allow him to watch a few of the morning shows because they were cartoons.  One Sunday during Sunday School I over heard a mom mention ICarly.  Jackson had begged to watch it before and I valued the other moms opinion so I started letting Jackson watch all the shows on Nick Jr.  He was 5 and a half.  Since Stephen has never really watched tv I haven't really thought more about the making sure it was all appropriate.

Since having Grace stay with us and while I sit down to feed her a bottle I have been paying more attention to the tv lately.  I have really the last 2 days just debated on no more tv.  It 1st started with the show Jessie.  Its actually one of the boys favorite shows.  Jessie is a Nannie in New York for 4 rich kids.  The oldest daughter got a magazine in the mail and was reading the quizzes.  It was probably one of those Teen Vogue or TEEN magazine I loved to get when I was a *TEEN*.  Well the girl was taking the quiz and it was something about how to stuff your bra.  I about flipped out, but just ignored it because if I drew attention to it then my kids would want to know what it was.....blah blah blah.  But seriously my oldest is 9.  Why would he need to hear about how to stuff a bra?  Stephen is 4 and he has been bra shopping with me before and by the way he wont ever go with me again, but anyways I don't really care for them hearing about stuffing your bra.  Then today while watching Phineas and Ferb they went to outer space and were at a "milk shake bar"  a real bar.  With the whole shaking drinks and bar counter and sit down at the bar and take a load off kinda bar.  Like that all happened.  Seriously.  Then they even said "sit down take a load off your asteroid"

I know my kids would be devastated if I took their favorite shows away, but I think some of the "humor" is getting out of control.  I think its to grown up for the kids these days.  Am I the only one??  I wish there were good ole shows like I watched back when I was younger.

Goats on the Roof

Last Thursday I took the 3 boys to Goats on the Roof.  We first met mom at Wendys and ate lunch.  Papa gave them some money for ice cream at the Goats on the Roof!
Jackson has been wanting to go for a long time!

Stephen enjoyed himself!!

The goats eat the ice cream cone that holds the food!

Matts favorite part was riding the bike to feed the goats!

Of Course Stephen tried to scare them!

Stephen doing his 123 holler!

Teasing the goats with the ice cream cone!  He would stick it through the gate then pull it back really fast!  Jackson was trying to feed the goat with the food still in the ice cream cone and the goat snatched the cone out of his hand.  It scared us all!!

TWINS!!

We had alot of fun and enjoyed seeing and talking to Autumn from Church.  She works there and the boys are wanting to go back again.  We are going tomorrow!!

Being Creative

Here's a quick picture of the boys being creative.  Connor started writing a book at school.  This wasn't something he had to do, but he saw two other kids doing it so he wanted to as well.  It is called "What is My Pet?".  He really did a good job.  His words are almost all spelled correctly.  Now he is drawing the pictures for the book.  Blake is coloring in his Elmo coloring book.

Family Fun Night

Last week, Connor's school hosted their first ever Family Fun Night (or named something close to that).  Basically, it was trying to get everyone to get out, have fun and be healthy!  It started with what they called a Cougar Crawl.  Everyone walked around the block together.  The kids all got pedometers and the parents walked along side the kids.  It was really pretty fun, and actually a pretty good distance.  Then we all made it into the school to some of the classrooms.  Various health-related local businesses set up various activities for tthe kids to do such as an eye doctor who checked their vision, YMCA did a strength test, hospital checked blood pressure, weight and height, hearing specialist checked hearing, etc. and the teachers set up and area with healthy snacks.  It was actually very neat.  We had a great time.  Here are some shots from the Cougar Crawl.

Sporting his special shirt for the night
Getting is pedometer in place

Connor and Blake playing soccer with the big kids...not so sure the big kids really wanted them to join inbut they acted nice towards them.
Jumping rope
Blake begged to jump rope.  One of the teachers told him he could.  He cried some serious tears when we told him we had to leave that area.
Seeing how many times he could step on the step.  He had the highest number in that group!

Beach Trip 2011

I finally got my vacation pictures to download like I wanted.  So, here goes my vacation blog, a month overdue.
Cuddle time with my little buddy when he got out of the pool.
Redneck fishing.  Aaron tied a sand bucket and rope together.  They had the best time casting it out into the ocean to see what they could catch.  Who knew that could be so exciting for 2 kids.
Blake had so much fun squirting himself with this water toy over and over...
I just think this is hilarious.  What in the world are they talking about?
Sweet kid!  Every day as soon as Rick got the umbrellas up and chairs set out, Blake would start saying "I wanna a snack!"  It was like clockwork!!!
Ronnie enjoying his beach time
The kids with their beach shirts.  Love these shirts!
The beach creation Aaron made this year.  Pretty good job if I do say so myself.
The older grandkids with the crab creator
I walked out onto the patio one day to find this.  I thought it was so cute.
Blake and Connor taking a ride
Sweet guys!
I caught Blake and Ronnie hanging out together looking for the moon one night.

Aaron's named cup kept disappearing.  So, he thought he'd solve that problem!
Sand creation #2 for the week
This is what happens to your food when you buy it, drop it off at your seat and walk away...birds decide it is snack time.  It was so gross!  They would fly in, grab a french fry and take off.  YUCK!!!
Family picture time

We had such a great time, as always.  We went two additional days this year which was SO nice.  Thanks Nana and Grandaddy for the terrific vacation!!
